Lahore the cultural metropolis of Pakistan and Sultanate of Mughal Empire. The origin of Lahore is obscure and nothing is known about it before 1021AD when Mahmud of Ghazna conquered it. Lahore attained magnificence during the Mughal rule from 1526 to 1721 AD. Lahore was ruled from 1767 to 1846 AD by Sikhs. During the British rule from 1849 to 1947 AD, building and roads were greatly multiplied and the city improved much. The Karakorum Highway also known as the 8th wonder of the world with its unbelievable work done by the Pakistan and Chinese. It took 20 years to complete the KKH, the road winds 800 formidable and majestic miles from Kashgar in western China almost to the Pakistan capital Islamabad. The KKH took 20 years (1960-1980) to complete but the human price paid was considerable. It is supposed that one person died for every one kilometre. Spend a few days in the Kingdom of Hunza valley inhabited by Hunzakutz and known for longevity of its inhabitants before travelling back to Islamabad.
