The Patundas and Nanga Parbat Juliper Pass Trek is a demanding and rewarding journey that combines the dramatic landscapes of Upper Hunza with the legendary Fairy Meadows and Nanga Parbat region. This trek is ideal for trekkers who want glacier crossings, high viewpoints, and a strong mix of Karakoram and Himalayan scenery.

The first part of the trek leads to Patundas Meadows, one of the best viewpoints in Hunza, offering wide views of giant peaks like Passu, Batura, Rakaposhi, Shishper, and Distaghil Sar. The second part takes you to Fairy Meadows and across the Juliper Pass, a remote and strenuous route near Nanga Parbat’s north face. This trek is physically challenging but extremely scenic and varied.

ITINERARY – Patundas and Nanga Parbat Juliper Pass Trek – 21 Days

Day 1: Arrive Islamabad.

Arrive in Islamabad, meet with the team at the Alpine Club of Pakistan for a briefing about the expedition and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Drive to Chilas along the KKH, Hotel.

Fly or drive to Besham. Overnight stay.

Day 3: Drive to Karimabad, Hotel.

Drive to Gilgit along the Karakoram Highway. Overnight at PTDC Motel.

Day 4: In Karimabad, visit Baltit and Altit forts with optional day trips to Hopper glacier or Duiker View point by jeeps.

Fly or drive to Besham. Overnight stay.

Day 5: Morning free in Karimabad, afternoon drive to Ghulkin village, camp.

Drive to Karimabad (Hunza). Rest and acclimatization at hotel.

Day 6: Trek to Passughar, by crossing Ghulking glacier. camp.

Trek to Dachigan (4050m). Enter high-altitude wilderness.

Day 7: Trek to Luzhdur (3400m) by crossing Passu glacier.

Trek to Red Star Camp (4150m) across glacier terrain.

Day 8: Trek 250m above Luzdhar overlooking the Passu to Patundas, camp.

Trek to Red Star Camp (4150m) across glacier terrain.

Day 9: Trek down to Passu and drive to Gulmit. Hotel.

Trek to Yutmaru Camp (4330m) on the Hispar Glacier.

Day 10: Morning explore Gulmit, afternoon drive to Gilgit, hotel.

Trek to Khanibasa Camp (4580m). Increasing altitude and glacier travel.

Day 11: Drive to Fairy Meadows (3300m).

Optional climb of Hispar Peak (5650m) or acclimatization day.

Day 12: Trek to Beyal (3500m) an easy walk through meadows and pine forest. camp.

Optional climb of Hispar Peak (5650m) or acclimatization day.

Day 13: Trek to Juliper base camp.

Descend to Naqpo Goro Camp (4400m).

Day 14: Cross Juliper Pass (4800m). The final climb is strenenuous. Camp 4400m.

Descend to Naqpo Goro Camp (4400m).

Day 15: Trek to Lower Khusto, camp.

Trek to Mango Camp (3650m). Gradual descent.

Day 16: A spare day to allow for any difficulties during the second trek. If not needed we will have a last relaxing day in the finest of locations around, the lower Khusto campsite.

Trek to Korofon Camp (3050m).

Day 17: Trek to Zangal, camp.

Trek to Korofon Camp (3050m).

Day 18: Walk down to jeep track and drive to Chilas transfer to Shangrila Midway House.

Trek to Jula Camp (3100m).

Day 19: Drive to Sharkool Chattar Plain, transfer to Greens Hotel.

Trek to Paiyo Camp (3350m), gateway to Baltoro Glacier.

Day 20: Drive to Rawalpindi, transfer to Hotel Shalimar.

Trek to Khobursay Camp (3800m).

Day 21: Transfer to airport for flight to onward destination.

Trek to Urdukas Camp (4150m) with panoramic mountain views.
