OVERVIEW & ITINERARY
Details
The Karakoram Shimshal Pass Trek is a remote and culturally rich adventure deep in the high valleys of Hunza, northern Pakistan. Shimshal Pass lies in one of the most isolated regions of the Karakoram, where vast alpine pastures, snow covered peaks, and traditional mountain life come together. The people of Shimshal spend almost six months each year in these high pastures with their livestock, keeping alive centuries old traditions.
The trek offers wide grassy meadows, crystal clear lakes, and views of towering peaks such as Minglik Sar and Quz Sar, both rising above 6000 meters. From higher viewpoints near Minglik Sar, trekkers can witness breathtaking panoramas of K2 and several other 7000 meter peaks. The region is also known for local festivals like yak racing, which reflect the strong bond between the people and their harsh mountain environment. This trek is ideal for those seeking solitude, raw nature, and an authentic high altitude experience.
