OVERVIEW & ITINERARY

Details

Broad Peak (8,047 meters) is the 12th highest mountain in the world, located in the Karakoram range of Pakistan. It is named after its wide summit, which gives the peak its unique appearance, with three prominent summits giving it the nickname “the three-headed peak.” Situated near K2, it offers a spectacular view of the surrounding glaciers and towering peaks.

Broad Peak has become an appealing destination for mountaineers due to its relatively less technical nature compared to other 8000m peaks, making it a suitable choice for climbers aiming to summit their first high-altitude peak. The mountain’s climb is challenging, with steep ice and rock ridges, crevassed glaciers, and a lengthy ascent to the summit.

The first successful summit of Broad Peak was achieved in 1957 by the Austrian expedition led by Marcus Schmuck and Fritz Wintersteller. The expedition set up multiple camps at various elevations, and after several attempts, they reached the summit without the use of supplemental oxygen. Broad Peak continues to be a significant mountaineering challenge for both seasoned and aspiring climbers.
