OVERVIEW & ITINERARY
Details
Gasherbrum I, also known as the Hidden Peak, is the 11th highest mountain in the world, standing at 8,065 meters (26,460 feet). Located in the Karakoram mountain range, it is one of the most challenging peaks to summit. The mountain was first successfully climbed in 1958 by an American expedition led by Peter Schoening and I. Kauffmann, using the southeast ridge route. Since then, it has remained a coveted prize for mountaineers due to its technical difficulty and the dangerous, remote terrain.
The Gasherbrum massif, part of the Baltoro Glacier region, includes four peaks — Gasherbrum I, II, III, and IV. Among them, Gasherbrum I is regarded as one of the most technically demanding mountains to climb. Its steep slopes, unstable glaciers, and extreme weather conditions make it a formidable challenge for even experienced mountaineers.
