Trango Tower is one of the most iconic peaks in the Karakoram Range and a revered challenge for serious mountaineers. Known for its sheer granite walls, it’s a dream climb for those seeking high-altitude rock climbing adventures. The Great Trango Tower stands at 6,251 meters, and it’s famed for having one of the highest vertical granite walls in the world. The first ascent of Great Trango Tower was achieved in 1977. The mountain features technical climbing routes and is known for its rugged beauty and challenging conditions.

This 35-day expedition will take you on a thrilling journey to conquer one of the most challenging climbs, requiring advanced climbing skills and determination. The expedition includes long days of climbing, with climbers living on the wall in porta-ledges during the ascent. Trango Tower and its surrounding peaks offer breathtaking views, and the climb is often referred to as the ultimate Himalayan big wall challenge.

ITINERARY – Trango Tower Expedition – 35 Days

Day 1: Arrive Islamabad, briefing with Alpine club of Pakistan, Hotel.

Arrive in Islamabad, meet with the team at the Alpine Club of Pakistan for a briefing about the expedition and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Drive to Chilas

Drive towards Chilas, check in at the hotel, and prepare for the journey ahead.

Day 3: Drive to Skardu, Hotel

Continue the journey by driving to Skardu, where you’ll check into the hotel.

Day 4: Drive to Askole, Camp

Drive by jeep to Askole, the starting point of the trek, and camp overnight.

Day 5: Trek to Julla, Camp

Start trekking to Julla, where you’ll set up camp.

Day 6: Trek to Paiju, Camp

Trek to Paiju, another scenic campsite.

Day 7: Rest Day

Take a day off for rest and acclimatization in Paiju.

Day 9-27: Climbing at Trango Tower

Reserved days for climbing. This phase will involve a mix of technical rock climbing, acclimatization, and summit attempts. Climbers will ascend the peak in a capsule style, living on the wall in porta-ledges. It will take approximately 20 days to reach the summit, depending on weather and climbing progress.

Day 28: Trek back to Paiju, Camp

After the climb, descend back to Paiju for rest.

Day 29: Trek down to Julla, Camp

Continue descending back to Julla for another overnight stay.

Day 30: Trek to Askole, Camp

Trek back to Askole for a final night of camping.

Day 31: Jeep Drive to Skardu, Hotel

Drive back to Skardu, check into the hotel, and rest after the strenuous expedition.

Day 32: Drive to Besham, Hotel

Drive to Besham, check into the hotel, and rest.

Day 33: Drive to Islamabad, Hotel

Drive back to Islamabad, where you’ll check into the hotel for debriefing and relaxation.

Day 34: De-briefing with Alpine Club

Debrief with the Alpine Club of Pakistan to conclude the expedition and reflect on the achievements.

Day 35: Transfer to Airport for Onward Destination

Fly to your onward destination or head home after an incredible climbing adventure.
