Details

The Borogil-Karamber trek takes you through Chitral, one of Pakistan’s most scenic yet unexplored regions. Located in the Hindukush mountain range, this region, known for its rugged terrain, is famous for its high-altitude passes, glaciers, and breathtaking views. The trek involves crossing the Shah Jinali Pass and Chilinji Pass, offering climbers the chance to explore both natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Chitral, being the border region with Afghanistan, holds historical significance, with Alexander the Great’s troops having passed through it. Today, it is home to the Kafir Kalash communities, adding a unique cultural aspect to this adventure.

ITINERARY – Borogil-Karamber Expedition – 22 Days

Day 1: Arrive Islamabad, briefing with Alpine club of Pakistan, Hotel.

Arrive in Islamabad, meet with the team at the Alpine Club of Pakistan for a briefing about the expedition and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Drive to Chitral, Hotel

Travel by road to Chitral and check into the hotel for the night.

Day 3: Chitral/Bamburet, Hotel

Drive to Bamburet for a hotel stay and rest. Enjoy the scenic views along the way.

Day 4: Jeep Drive to Phurgram

Take a jeep drive to Phurgram, an offbeat village, and stay overnight in tents.

Day 5: Phurgram/Sor Rich/Rua

Trek from Phurgram to Sor Rich, then continue to Rua (6-7 hours trek).

Day 6: Sor Rich/Jinali Ghari

Trek to the base of Shah Jinali Pass at Jinali Ghari, set up camp.

Day 7: Cross Shah Jinali Pass – Yashkist

Cross the Shah Jinali Pass and trek to Yashkist (8-10 hours trek). Camp for the night.

Day 8: Yashkist/Trek to Kishmanja

Trek from Yashkist to Kishmanja (6-7 hours).

Day 9: Kishmanja/Ishkarwarz

Continue the trek to Ishkarwarz, where you’ll camp for the night.

Day 10: Ishkarwarz/Lalay

Trek from Ishkarwarz to Lalay, setting up camp for a restful night.

Day 11: Over Karambar Pass / Shuinj

Cross the Karambar Pass and trek down to Shuinj, a remote area for camping.

Day 12: Shuinji/Sokhterabad

Trek from Shuinji to Sokhterabad, which will take about 6-7 hours.

Day 13: Sokhterabad/Matramdas

Continue the trek to Matramdas, where you will set up camp.

Day 14: Matramdas/Wargut

Trek from Matramdas to Wargut, a peaceful spot for camping under the stars.

Day 15: Wargut Jangle/Chilinji Base

Trek to Chilinji Base, the starting point for the famous Chilinji Pass.

Day 16: Chilinji Base/Chilinji High Camp

Trek to Chilinji High Camp, resting before the climb across Chilinji Pass.

Day 17: Across Chilinji Pass to Biatar

Cross Chilinji Pass and descend to Biatar for an overnight camp.

Day 18: Biatar/Ziarat Baba Ghundi

Trek to Ziarat Baba Ghundi, a religious site and peaceful area for camping.

Day 19: Ziarat Baba Ghundi/Karimabad

Head towards Karimabad, with breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.

Day 20: Karimabad/Besham

Drive to Besham, transfer to hotel for rest.

Day 21: Besham/Islamabad

Drive back to Islamabad for debriefing and rest.

Day 22: Onward Flight

After the debriefing session, transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
